Traffic.

It’s what every web site, and especially every blog needs. But how do you get more traffic?

There are many different ways including leveraging content, using comments, focusing on keywords, tagging, rss feeds, niche blogging, email list and more, and I suggest working on a few at a time to build up a steady stream of traffic and then move on to other strategies. By working on a few at a time you can measure their effectiveness, make changes if necessary and then continue to build.

And traffic is only one factor to a successful blog. Monetization, pillar articles, design, marketing, branding, sourcing content, publicity, newsletters, rss feeds all play a part in a blog that’s successful, both your visitors and you will enjoy and only takes you a few hours a day to maintain.

Well known blogger Yaro Starak has a mentoring program where he teaches how to work part-time to make a full-time living from your blog. When considering how to monetize your blog, one of the more effective (although sometimes controversial) ways is to get paid to blog. You get to write about things you enjoy and are topical to your audience… and get paid for it.

When researching the market, I found several web sites that have come out over the past few years that help match advertisers with bloggers. I chose to try PayPerPost.com. They have an efficient system that helps you chose the blogging opportunities that make sense for you and makes the process easy. After you find a suitable opportunity, you write the post, add the links to your entry as requested and submit it. It’s all on one page and easy to follow. You’ll notice the image below this post as disclosure that you’re writing a sponsored post, but not all advertisers require it.

Of course, to use the system, you’ll need to have (or start) a blog that has some content (preferably original content) and is getting some traffic. The opportunities available to you will be based on the number of posts you’ve made, your ‘score’ at PayPerPost (called a tack rating) your Google PR and Alexa ranking. If you’re just starting out, no worries, there are some opportunities that have minimum requirements.

Many of the blogging courses I’ve reviewed on the market recommend this method. To me it’s seems natural, you write on topics that are of interest to you, let others know about it and get paid to blog!

I’ve also used the advertiser side of the PayPerPost.com system to test getting the buzz out on a blog. It was straightforward and I received exactly what I was looking for, some good posts about the blog using the keyword links I requested. The bloggers that posted were honest, fast and wrote well.

This will be an interesting test. I’ll write more on my experiences and report my results.

You’ve undoubtedly heard about the new blog traffic tool BlogRush over the past few weeks.

Basically it’s a network intended to help promote your blog by posting a widget on your blog with other member’s related posts. Your blog posts show up on other blogs in the network every time you display the widget. So basically, it’s how much traffic you get that will determine how often your blog posts are shown through the network.

It’s too early to tell how effective it will be, but from checking with other members the feedback has been mostly positive with a ‘wait and see’ attitude. My guess is that blogs that get decent traffic will benefit most from this network, although it looks like just about any blog with traffic will benefit. I can’t see many high traffic blogs using BlogRush, although many well known internet marketers are using it, or at least trying it out.

The jury is still out and we’ll see some tangible results soon. I’ve added it to our blog here and will report on any results as they become available.

83 cents a day?

You must think I’m crazy to ask that question. Of course you’re also probably thinking, if I can’t make 83 cents a day I might consider another line of work!

Well, that’s exactly how much it will cost you to pickup all the articles and content you need to build at least 12 adsense sites and 12 blogs a month.

How much can 12 blogs and adsense sites bring you? Say each site only brings in on average $1 a day after a month in total revenue. I’d conservatively say yes, you can easily earn 83 cents a day with just one component of the content. And quickly too. Add in the resell rights and PLR products and you can grow a strong revenue stream that can bring you passive income each and every month.

What is the one common thread among all online marketing?

Whether it’s content you sell, post, write, use, compile… every project you put online has content.
