You can have all the right tools, strategies, courses, software, products, etc, but without changing your mind in a simple and specific way, you will continue to have challenges. You’ll walk around without a direction. You’ll just jump from opportunity to opportunity. You’ll always wonder why it’s not working for you. Why others can do it, and what they’re doing differently.

1- Where is your focus?

Being focused is the number one challenge, not only for IM’ers, but for anyone trying to reach a goal. In our fast paced and multi-tasking society, it’s hard to get used to focusing on just one thing… and most importantly sticking to it.

So many things distract us… but to really succeed, we need to focus on the strategies we’ve decided on and stick with them.

2- What are your passions?

If you are focused, but working regularly on topics and methods that don’t interest you or don’t get you excited, you’ll most likely give it up as soon as you run into a challenge (and you will). Being passionate about what you do every day is a big factor to your success.

3- What is your model?

How do you monetize your business? Are you selling a product, promoting others products or earning from advertising? Which model suits your personality best? Try them out and see which works best for you.

4- What is your strategy?

How do you plan to implement your business model? Both in general terms and specific steps as well. Get a handle on what’s first, next, and each step in the process.

Ask yourself these questions and decide what direction you want to take. Be honest with yourself and see what path suits you and your interests, personality and time schedule best.

Focus is most important since it’s easy to be distracted by ‘shiny new things’ in your email every day. Success doesn’t come from ‘a little here and a little there’, it’s essential to give time to your main business and work it until it works… or shift to a new one.

Commit to setting aside time daily for your business and take action, one step at a time. If what your working on right now isn’t bringing you closer to your goals, stop and get focused on activities that do.

Let me share what I’ve been working on the last 10 days.

After reading Dennis Becker’s guide (several times btw) that I told you about last week, I’ve been inspired to accomplish the following:

• created a new membership site launching next week
• created a new auto updating affiliate site (Update: 4 days after setting it up – took about 1 hour – it is now #1 on Google for the search keywords I selected and getting almost 100 visits a day)
• added 27 new projects to my master project list
• in process of completing 4 products, all but 1 in non-IM niches I work in
• tweaked 2 projects and doubled revenue on 1 and increased 67% on the other (initial results, most likely will get better over time)
• now regularly adding new projects ideas to my master project list (the more the better)
• overall increased my average daily income by 24% for just the work I did over the last 10 days

And frankly this was easy and exciting. I plan to continue at a similar pace throughout the year. You can too.

One of the vital lessons I’ve applied from Dennis’ guide is speed.

You have the take action quickly. The faster you move, the faster you either succeed or fail. If you fail, no worries, you either tweak and try again or move on. Since you’re moving quickly you wouldn’t have wasted much time, just reached your successes much faster. That means more revenue… more ongoing, passive income.

And when you want to take time off, go away with the family, or do anything you want, just do it without worrying about needing to be at your computer 24/7. First, you want to have personal control your income stream.

One of the best ways to having your own cash flow method is a business. A business allows you to generate income on your terms, on your timetable and allows you an unlimited earning opportunity. You don’t want to be limited by the ‘time for money’ constraints of a job.

Second, you’ll want a business that makes money regardless of the market conditions, financial markets, economy or who’s in the White House.

Third, you’ll want to have the ability to work freely on your own schedule, with few time constraints or commitments and for short periods of time.
